Christy Bosley, Adaptive Fitness Program Director
Adaptive Fitness and Sports at the Y is designed to help individuals with all abilities reach their fullest potential through support and fellowship, as well as health, wellness, and sport activities.

The Adaptive Fitness Program provides accessibility for people with intellectual, developmental and/or physical disabilities, as well as, chronic conditions and acquired brain injuries, to participate in healthy lifestyles at the YMCA with a structured exercise program. The goals are to provide opportunities for the adaptive fitness participants to improve their independence, wellness, and self-esteem, build strong relationships, and develop a network of programs and partnerships that promote greater awareness and understanding of the needs of individuals with disabilities.

Program participants will be led through an adaptive fitness program, overseen by Christy Bosley, Adaptive Fitness Program Director, and facilitated by specially trained adaptive personal trainers.

Paul Weiland

Paul Weiland is the Wellness and Sports Director at the Wheeler YMCA in Plainville. Paul brings over 20 years of Adaptive Sports & Fitness Experience to the program. He is a Certified Health and Physical Education teacher with an Adaptive Physical Education certification as well as being a Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor. In addition to being the Wellness and Sports Director, Paul is involved in every aspect of the Wheeler YMCA facility, from running sports programs to teaching group exercise classes, and facilitating community outreach.

Paul also has extensive experience in developing, managing and coaching a multitude of adaptive sport and fitness programs. He has coached Wheelchair Basketball at the high school and college level and was part of the USA Paralympics Wheelchair Basketball Selection Committee in 2008. Paul is very passionate about helping individuals of all abilities realize their full potential in the field of play and in life.

Enoc

Enoc Talavera is a personal trainer at the Wheeler Ymca in Plainville. Enoc has his certification from ISSA (International Sport Science Association) and has been certified for 4 years. He has his associate degree in general studies with a concentration in science. Also, Enoc is currently enrolled at Central Connecticut State University in pursuit of his bachelor's degree in exercise science and minor in psychology. At the Wheeler YMCA you can find Enoc training adaptive clients or instructing in a group exercise class.

Enoc uses the most recent science-based principles for strength training to be able to transform his clients both mentally and physically. Modifying any exercise to help his clients with mobility or strength issues. Enoc wants others to be themselves and provides an environment of acceptance and understanding.

Charles

My name is E. Charles Brooks.  I am a Certified Personal Trainer.  I have been with Wheeler Regional YMCA for 10 years and certified as a personal trainer for 10 years as well.  My clientele ranges from 14 years old to 80 years old.  I also work very closely with the adaptive community.  I am CPR/First Aid/AED certified.  I currently teach a Senior strength and cardio class and a Bootcamp class.  I am a team champion for the employee/members' annual campaign. I also worked in membership as well. One of my best qualities is member engagement. Making members feel comfortable and smile. My philosophy of wellness has 3 components mind, body, and spirit, this creates balance. I am passionate about helping members/clients unlock their full potential.  Always remembering, to be the best version of yourself.  As Always LET’S Gooooo!
