Parent and Child/ Water Discovery

Parent Child/Water Discovery: Children, 6 months to 3 years, will enjoy the many water-readiness activities provided by our YMCA aquatics instructors. This is one of the most important skills every child should master - feeling safe in the water. Children progress from water adjustment to basic skills while working with parents. One adult must be in the water with their child at all times.

Parent Child/Water Exploration: This class, designed for children ages 2 to 3, adapts basic swimming skills to your child's developmental level including, body positions, floating, blowing bubbles, and fundamental safety and aquatics skills.  One adult must be in the water with their child for a portion of the class.

Perch (Ages 2 – 3)

This class, designed for children ages 2 to 3, adapts swimming skills to your child’s developmental level. Participants will progress from water adjustment to basic swimming skills, both with the instructor and with a parent.  One adult must be in the water with their child for a portion of the class. Ratio is 6:1.

5. Preschool Beginner Swim Lessons ( Ages 3 - 5 )

Participants at the Pike or Eel swim levels will concentrate on becoming more comfortable in the water, getting their face wet, blowing bubbles, floating on their fronts and backs with assistance, and working with lesson equipment independently.  Participants at the Eel swim level may be able to swim more independently, can get their face wet, and will work on continuing to improve glides, arm movements, kicking, and safety in and around water.  Participants will be swim tested the first day and then placed in a class that meets their needs. The instructors are all trained for these levels.

Preschool Swim Lessons

In an effort to make registration easier, all you have to do is choose the age group and the time you'd like to come to class - we will separate all swimmers according to their swim levels and we will track and monitor their progression.

This class is meant for 2 - 4 participants of similar skill level and age. Perfect for siblings or friends who want to learn together.

7. Porpoise Club (Ages 11-15)

This club is for youths who have completed the YMCA swim levels through Shark (ages 11–15). This class will enhance their existing skills and teach them more including: Lifesaving skills, personal safety and personal growth, competitive skills, snorkeling/skin diving, water sports, and volunteering opportunities.

Aqua Buddies

AQUA BUDDIES is an adaptive swim lesson program specially modified for children ages 5-10 years old that have behavioral, developmental, or physical.   This class will be lead by ABA certified staff and volunteers. Lessons include water acclimation, instruction on floating, stroke development, as well as water safety. Participants will have the opportunity to improve core strength, coordination, range of motion as well as social behavior while having fun in the pool.
