Child Care

Before or After School Child Care

CONFIDENT KIDS TODAY, ENGAGED ADULTS TOMORROW

Children absorb knowledge, skills and values from everything and everyone around them. At the YMCA of Greater Hartford, we believe time well spent in a fun, safe and supportive environment before and after school is a primary block for quality of life and future success of children. Children feel connected at the Y, where they can make friends and learn how to be their best with the Y values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. We promote positive self-esteem, life skills, teamwork, leadership, creativity and educational support.

The Y's School Age Child Development program is centered on activities and opportunities that focus on eight core components:

  1. Literacy
  2. Character Development
  3. Service Learning
  4. Health, Wellness & Fitness
  5. Arts & Humanities
  6. Science, Math & Technology
  7. Social Competence & Conflict Resolution
  8. Homework Support

The YMCA of Greater Hartford recognizes that exceptional, caring adults are essential to the healthy development of children. Our staff exceeds state licensing requirements for experience and training. All staff are required to pass a state and national background check before being hired, and references are extensively checked. Additionally, all staff are First Aid/CPR certified, making YMCA School Age programs the standard in safety and quality.
