00 Kindergarten Academy (Age 5)

The East Hartford YMCA’s Kindergarten Academy is for your 5 year old camper.  Each week activities will be planned around fun and exciting themes such as: Sports, Science, Wild Life, Nature, Camp Spirit and other camp based activities.

01 Traditional - Camp Nowashe Youth Campers (Ages 6-7)

The East Hartford YMCA traditional Day Camp will be special for your camper.  Each week activities will be planned around fun and exciting themes that will include:  Sports, Science, Wild Life, Nature, Camp Spirit, Water Games, and other camp based activities.  As part of each week, campers will take part in traditional camp activities including swimming, field games, arts and crafts, archery, family nights and other fun activities.

02 Youth Specialty Camps (Ages 8-10)

Each week the campers will have a morning and afternoon activity based on the theme of the Specialty Camp. The campers will participate in traditional camp activities that include: swimming, field games, arts and crafts and other fun activities. Each Specialty Camp will include a focus on a particular specialty. Please call for registration dates for specific specialty camp weeks.

BASKETBALL CAMP

Each day the campers will participate in skill development focusing on: offense, defense, shooting, passing and the importance of teamwork. The week will finish with a 3 on 3 tournament and skills competition. The campers will also participate in traditional camp activities such as: swimming, field games, and arts and crafts.

GIRL POWER CAMP

Each day the girls will focus on a fun enriching activity centered on Girl Power. The activities will include: scrapbooking, photography, spa, creative writing, and fitness. The girls will also enjoy the traditional camp activities such as: swimming, arts and crafts and field games.

GALAXY CAMP
The activities for the week will include: Space exploration, Model Rocketry, NASA education, and traditional camp games like swimming and arts and crafts.

THEATER CAMP
The campers will write, direct and produce a fantastic show each day. The focus is Camp Spirit, Fun and Friendship. The campers will also participate in traditional camp activities such as: swimming, field games, and arts and crafts. 

BUILDING BLOCKS WITH LEGO CAMP

The activities for the week will include: Lego construction competition, creative play, and a family event showcasing a Lego spectacular production by the campers. The campers will also participate in traditional camp activities such as: swimming, field games, and arts and crafts.

NATURE DISCOVERY
Each day, campers will be engaged in a new discovery expedition on the Hockanum River Nature Trail.  Campers will learn about insects, reptiles, plant life and the environment.  Campers will also participate in the traditional camp activities such as swimming, field games and arts & crafts.

MASTER CHEF
Each Day the campers will create delicious camp cuisine and learn about culinary arts.  This fun filled week will have a food tasting party for parents and distinguished guests on the lst day and Master Chef awards will be distributed.  The campers will participate in traditional camp activities that will include: swimming, field games, arts and crafts and other fun activities.

READING IS FUN
Each day campers will build literacy skills and develop a live for reading through story telling and fun projects.  Campers will have choice-time to enjoy the books they like and the staff will guide campers in fun learning groups.  Focus on poetry, history and current events.  The week will bring new discovery to the magic of a great story.  Campers will participate in traditional camp activities such as swimming, field games and arts & crafts.

ARTRAGEOUS
Let your creativity shine! We’ll explore a wide variety of artistic expressions including pain, wood, chalk, and mixed media. Campers will be encouraged to focus on and enjoy the process, resulting in truly unique works of art!

PHOTOGRAPHY
Do you have a camper that loves taking pictures and would like to improve his or her skills? With this new specialty camp, campers will explore the basics of picture taking and the art of photography.

03 Escapade Camp (Ages 11-15)

The Escapade Camp is for campers ages 11-15.  The campers will take trips to area attractions focusing on outdoor adventure, nature, swimming, science, and amusement destinations.  The campers will also participate in traditional camp activities that include arts and crafts, field games and swimming.  Permission slips for trips will be required.

04 Leaders Camp (Ages 15-16)

The focus of this program will be to learn leadership skills, planning camp activities, and learning how to assist a camp counselor for two sessions.  You must successfully complete a one week training session that will include:  YMCA Camp philosophy, best practices for a counselor, camper safety, and participate in fun camp activities.  Each participant that successfully completes the training week can sign up to volunteer for two sessions as an LIT.
