Specialty Camps

All Specialty Campers will participate in activities specific to that specialty camp. All campers will still participate in swimming and field activities. Each camp has its own focus and there is no additional cost for any specialty camp.

All Star Sports Camp

Ages 5 – 6

Aspiring athletes will focus on numerous sports activities as they participate in this specialty camp. Each day of the session will be dedicated to a different sport. Campers will learn the basics of basketball, soccer, floor hockey, and baseball. Skill development and tournaments will be a great way for campers to experience a variety of sports while having a fun time.

Session Dates: July 7 – July 11


Superstar Sports Camp

Ages 7 – 8

Aspiring athletes will be focusing on numerous sports activities. Each day of the session will be dedicated to a different sport. Campers will learn the basics of basketball, soccer, floor hockey, and baseball. Skill development and tournaments will be a great way for campers to experience a variety of sports and have a great and fun time at it!

Session Dates: July 14 – July 18


MVP Sports Camp

Ages 9 – 11

Aspiring athletes will be focusing on numerous sports activities. Each day of the session will be dedicated to a different sport. Campers will learn the basics of basketball, soccer, floor hockey, and baseball. Skill development and tournaments will be a great way for campers to experience a variety of sports and have a great and fun time at it! Sport campers may take a field trip to a local sports attraction.

Session Dates: July 21 – July 25


Big League Sports Camp

Ages 12 – 14

Aspiring athletes will be focusing on numerous sports activities. Each day of the session will be dedicated to a different sport. Campers will learn the basics of basketball, soccer, floor hockey, and baseball. Skill development and tournaments will be a great way for campers to experience a variety of sports and have a great and fun time at it! Sport campers may take a field trip to a local sports attraction.

Session Dates: July 28 – August 1


Say Cheese Camera Club

Campers will be learning the art and science of photography. Each day campers will learn new skills and apply them using the cameras. Campers will document their camp experience and make a camp yearbook containing their own images. The skills and memories campers take away with them will last a lifetime. This camp will be offered as a half day option, the participants would take part in Camp Nowashe activities after lunch.

Session Dates:
Ages 9 – 11: July 28 – August 1
Ages 12 – 14: July 21 – July 25


Weird, Wild and Wacky Science Camp

Young scientists will take a hands-on approach to learning about nature, chemistry and animals. Participants will work in the field and in the lab as scientists exploring and learning about the world around them. This will be a fun and exciting way to learn more about science.

Session Dates:
Ages 5 - 6: July 28 – August 1
Ages 7 – 8: July 28 – August 1
Ages 9 – 11: July 14 – July 18
Ages 12 – 14: July 14 – July 18

Girl Power!

It is fun being a girl, but it can also sometimes be a challenge. Girl Power! specialty camp will help girls develop to their fullest potential by our counselors assisting them to realize that being unique is amazing! They will take part in a variety of activities that will encourage them to develop a meaningful set of values that will help them change the way they see the world and their place in it. They will learn the importance of setting goals, how to make good decisions, team work, and friendships. The campers will be broken down into separate groups for age appropriate activities. Some fun activities include: skits, tea parties, make-over day, and making diaries/journals

Session Dates:
Ages 9 – 11: August 4 - 8
Ages 12 – 14: August 4 - 8


WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP:

  • Lunch, including drink with cold pack;Pack lunches in a paper or plastic bag, no lunch boxes or coolers please
  • Backpack
  • One-piece bathing suit
  • Sunscreen
  • Water Bottle
  • Towel
  • Closed-toe shoes
  • Remember to pack plastic forks or spoons
  • On rainy days, rain gear and a change of clothes

WHAT NOT TO BRING TO CAMP:

  • Cell phones
  • Computer games
  • Weapons
  • Tobacco, drugs, or alcohol
  • Bug lotion should be applied at home
  • Clothing with messages referring to tobacco, drugs, alcohol, or sex are not permitted.

SUMMER CAMP OPEN HOUSE!
Join the East Hartford YMCA for our Summer Camp Open House on Thursday June, 5th 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Come meet Summer Staff as well and see our schedules, trip dates, activities, and games. This is also a great time for last-minute registrations! There will be a raffle with prizes as well as game tournaments in our Teen and Pre-Teen Centers. Call 289-6612 for any information.
